Broughton’s very own film festival

A Weekend in the Country: filming the British landscape is a two day film festival that will be held at the Victory Hall in Broughton-in-Furness on the 5th & 6th of December 2009.

The festival will show a selection of important films that explore the British landscape in some way.

The festival has been designed to celebrate our countryside and explore serious issues such as climate change in a approachable and interesting way. All aspects of the festival have been considered to highlight particular areas of interest such as, local conservationist, Bill Shaw’s introduction to the Scottish section of the festival with a talk about his time on the island of St Kilda and the changes he has been monitoring there.

The festival also includes talks by Northern Art Prize winner, Karen Guthrie and conservationist Bill Shaw, as well as a live performance by songwriter Nancy Elizabeth.
